What does the book "The Three Little Bears" have in common with Property Management?
"Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl. "This porridge is too hot!" she exclaimed. So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl. "This porridge is too cold," she said. So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge. "Ahhh, this porridge is just right,"
April in this biz! It is also known as the seasonal switchover. Taking a building from heating to cooling, as in some cases based on the mechanical system, you can't have both. Turn on too early with cooler temperatures, and no heat; people comment they are cold, turn it on too late, and they comment they are hot, and for some, the temperature is just right!. Some of the properties we manage do not yet have their AC engaged, though next week when we are back to cooler temperatures, those that have been warm will be cozy!
City News featured an article (below) on this subject this weekend, where we have seen unseasonably high temperatures making some units warm and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, City News should have looked at the bigger picture by contacting a Property Management Firm for comment. Without getting too technical, switching from heating to cooling in many apartment-style buildings is not a simple flick of a switch; it involves scheduling a service call with a contractor who works through several steps to move from heating to cooling.
